How to beat your Competition in SERPs

Stack Eternal

Just like the good old school days when students battled for good ranks, your website, too, has to deal with the pressure of standing out and scoring a good rank in search Engine Results Pages (conveniently shortened as SERPs). Also, good rankings in SERPs certainly mean a lot more – enhanced traffic and better leads.

Google bots and crawlers analyse your website profusely and they can’t be tricked and with so many fish in the sea, it takes real effort to beat your competitors and garner customers at lightning speed. However, most marketers miss the fact that tiny efforts in the right direction can drive your website to new heights and here we show you how to get this done.

Speed Check

Google is fast, very fast and so should be your website. Get a speed check done using the available tools as the speed of your load time is one parameter for your ranking. Keep the codes less, avail HTTPs ( not HTTP ) and skip the programmes like Flash that make your pages heavy to load. If your website opens in 3 seconds or less, you are moving right but if it doesn’t, it’s repair time!

Content Check

A sure shot way to get noticed and appreciated by Google generating and publishing original content that is engaging and solves problems. Good content, including videos never go unnoticed by users and definitely gets you on top of the results page. Thorough keyword research using tools like Google’s keyword planner, light and optimised URL as well as media are tricks that will effortlessly lure good rankings.

Link Check

Links that you earn and not pay for i.e. legitimate inbound linking can be very fruitful for your website’s traffic. Make sure that your links reside in good areas of the internet because those will escalate your SERP performance very quickly. But remember, quality and genuine links will only produce effect! Keep away from SEO packages that give thousands of links for dirt cheap rates. Also while at it, increase your website’s accessibility to users as well as bots by creating HTML sitemap of your website. Ensure there are no broken links.

Responsivity Check

Optimised websites that are responsive may seem a tedious and even insignificant work but the crawlers don’t overlook it. With half population of the world switching to phones for information, it is imperative that your website be mobile friendly and other device-responsive. Failure to do so will not only get you a negative rank in SERPs but will also drive majority of your leads away to your competition. Read more about accelerated mobile pages here.
